Reiko from Comic Party - Cute, ne?

R I DI N G  B E A N

By the same guy who designed the Knight sabers and set in the same world as Gunsmith Cats, this is well worth a look.

Bean Bandit is a driver for hire. He and his partner Rally (no, not the one from GSC), act as a team transporting items and people of dubious legality from A to B without any interference from the police.

Things start to go wrong for Bean when he is asked to carry a message to the millionaire father of a kidnapped girl, only to discover it’s a set up.

The plot is so full of convolutions that it would spoil the fun to mention them here, suffice to say that if you blink at the wrong time you could miss something.
Riding Bean
Bean himself is a bit of an enigma, he seems human enough, but at one point a villain drives a car at his head, smashing him against the side of a parked car.The car rams him a couple of times for good measure, after which Bean gets up apparently unharmed and pulls the door off the villain’s car. How he does this is never explained, perhaps he had a can of spinach handy…

Watching this, you can see where the ideas for Rally Vincent and Minnie May came from. And Bean does make appearances in the Gunsmith Cats manga…

The action is fast and well done, someone on the production team likes cars and guns! I saw the dub version which wasn’t that bad, although the actor playing Bean obviously thought he was Clint Eastwood.

If you like car chases and plots that twist and turn like a twisty turny thing, you’ll like this.

7/10 - Fast and fun!

 More futuristic Tech-Noir...

Alita Check out Armitage III (if you can find it!) Its tops for crime busting action, and she turns vigilante too, just like ol' Bean.
