Hyper violent anime about some
bloke called Ken. Set in the wastelands of what was once the Earth,
Fist of the North Star draws much of its inspiration from Mad Max,
with Ken resembling the nutty Mel Gibson character in both outfit
and jawline.
The bodycount is humungous, but since the characters are so unsympathetic
you'll be more interested in seeing how they're disposed of than wondering
why. As hyper violent anime goes, at least FOTNS is imaginative I
suppose.
The problem here is that its trying to look like some major tragic
revenge story, when its actually about as intellectually challenging
as Conan the Barbarian, only less so. And at least that had some nice
ladies in it, this just has sweaty bikers, so I'm left wondering exactly
what the appeal is suppsed to be - any anime relying on numerous ott
death sequences has got to be in trouble.
As you can probably guess, its really not my sort of thing, but amusing
considering one of the bad guys is voiced by the bloke who used to
do Optimus
Prime from the old Transformers cartoon series. (How do I know these
things...?)
On the downside, the animation is basic, the proportions of the people
are stupid and there are far too many exploding heads - if you're
sitting there thinking "great" then go buy it. If you're
sitting there thinking "and...?" then don't bother, that's
it ^_^
6/10 - Thump. Bang. Rip. If that sounds good, you'll lap this
up.
