In startling parallel to the 1980's Ghostbusters, Ayaka Kisuragi's company busts spooks for profit. It's also a comedy, and the two videos released by Pioneer follow four episodes of various ghostly goings on. As a comedy, it relies heavily on taking peoples perceptions of spooks and turning them around - the first episode sees Dracula dealt with, and is actually pretty good. It's certainly a novel twist on the concept. The next is a little more original in terms of plot, taking place in a hospital where the death toll is rising... One cunning trap later, and the supernatural forces are out to play!
The whole series looks very much like an animated X Files, with the
red-haired Kisuragi and the trenchcoat wearing Police officer in the
unexplained mystery department searching for the truth...The animation does its job okay, the dubbing is average and the episodes are fun enough, but it's nothing that special. However, if you want a good laugh 7/10 - If you like Japanese humour, you'll enjoy this, but there's not a whole lot there to get your brain around... Back to Menu |
