However much you may detest it, Sailor Moon is a wonderful anime. However unoriginal, or badly dubbed and cut, it is still a wonderful anime. Why? Because it works. It's bright, colourful and appealing, yet it isn't just for younger, female viewers. In fact, was it really
designed for them at all?

Sailor Moon R the movie, considered the best of the three movies by fans, bases it's storyline around Mamoru's (Darien's) past, and how he met a strange alien boy named Fiore soon after his parents were killed in a car crash. As a goodbye gift, Mamoru gave
the boy a rose, who then in turn promised to return with flowers as a symbol of their friendship. However when Fiore returns in the present day, he realises Mamoru has Usagi (Serena) now, and isn't too happy about it. So Sailor Moon and the scouts get dragged into the save-the-earth-from-the-crazy-guy plot once more.

I think I speak for us all when I say how different, and how much better the original version of this movie is from the American dub. There are no scenes where the words just don't seem to fit, leaving you cringing at the bad translation (also the transformation scenes are a little more 'generous') The animation, whilst not brilliant, never seems to dull. The colours are always vibrant and eye catching, so however many times you watch the movie, it's not likely you'll get bored of the long-legged heroines screaming their attacks.

So, after all that, it all comes down to whether you like Sailor Moon or not. If you do, or think you might, then this movie is all you ever asked for. If you don't, then why read my opinion? I believe this to be an amazing movie, be it for kids or for adults.

9/10 - Maybe it *was* designed for young, female viewers, but that can't stop it being a good movie.
