After watching Tenchi Muyo, I quickly wanted to get into the Tenchi Universe series to see if the it could continue it's great legacy.

Before we start, and in case you've seen Tenchi Muyo but not Universe, there is one thing you should know; Basically, instead of carrying on with the Tenchi Muyo OVA, Tenchi Universe starts from scratch and is a retelling of the series with all the old characters introduced in different ways - it even adds some new ones! Luckily, you'll be pleased to know that the characters from the OVA have not changed one bit (Which is no bad thing) and that the plot is much meatier with far more going on this time around.

For example, while Ryoko was a resurrected demon in the OVA, this time she is the Universe's most wanted Space Pirate, Washu was trapped in the cave where Ryoko was in the OVA and Mihoshi now has a partner called Kiyone who is just one of Tenchi Universe's newest girls. (although anyone who saw the latter OAV's will have met Kiyone in Mihoshi's bizarre storytelling antics).

The dubbing is still brilliant with all the original voice actors and actresses from the OVA reprising their roles, and the dubbing is even more in sync this time around, making it an improvement then the OVA.

This cut version of the series features less adult-themed scenes although there are still a couple of noticable ones (There is a mild lesbian scene in one of the middle episodes). So this version is still suitable for kids who watched the Toonami version although parents may still need to be wary of certain areas.

In the end, Tenchi Universe still carries the Tenchi name in glory and is definitely recommended for those who enjoyed the OVA series. With more characters, better storylines and even crazier moments, this is absolutely priceless!

10/10 - Despite costing around £120 to purchase the whole series, it will be the best £120 you've ever spent! Absolutely amazing from start to finish with moments that will make you laugh, cry but always enjoy.
