Sailor Moon Vol. 2 & 3

The girls in Sailor Suits are back, but there's no hornpipe on the agenda...

More Sailor Moon antics in Mixx's second colection of the Sailor Moon manga by Naoko Takeuchi.

This latest volume is full of emotions and has a much better plot than the part of the Anime that it corresponds to. For one thing, Tuxedo Mask reveals that he knows Sailor Moon’s identity and that he is Darien Shields to Bunny prior to the revelation of the Silver Crystal and because of this, the romance between them is given more time to develop.

The volume also sees the introduction of Sailor Venus, a.k.a Mina, who is said to be the princess that the others have been searching for - this, of course, is not true.

In fact the way in which the crystal and princess are revealed is a lot better in print form too - the Anime, though beautiful, lacked the emotion and symbolism that the Manga offers.

Once again translation is poor, but what else can you expect from Mixx? (I really wish that a good translator had handled this, it deserves much better.)

Despite the flaws, I loved this Manga and I really urge anyone who likes the Anime to read this, especially those who are stuck with the DiC version.

9/10 again knocked down a notch by Mixx’s sheer crappy-ness but a great romantic plot, a must for any Moonie.

Volume 3

Another edition of Sailor Moon and for those of you how have only seen the dub, or even if you've seen the original first season finale prepare to be surprised because there are quite a few obvious differences between plot lines here.

They are really to many to list but the main ones are that 'evil' Darien poses as the Arcade guys best friend Endo, killing the original Endo and killing Luna (who is brought back to live pretty quickly of course). The Sailors get a sword and Sailor Venus kills Queen Beryl with it. Sailor Moon fights the evil Tuxedo mask and kills him and commits Seppuku/Harakiri (she disembowels herself)

Then the sailor scouts who can't beat Queen Metallia on their own so they give up their lives to awaken Sailor Moon & Tuxedo Mask.

The artwork is stunning especially where Romance is concerned, the only regret is again Mixx using dub terms and names.

(9/10 a beautiful, and romantic volume, shame about the translators)
