Catching up with Genki Gear

Written by Ross Locksley on 08 Nov 2012

We've been fans of Genki Gear for some time now - my very own "Ultimate Beverage" mug often jostles with my UKA mug for a spot on my desk, and it wouldn't be Christmas without some of their distinctive Christmas cards bearing my scrawl being sent to friends and family.

High time we sat down with Lydia at Genki and started grilling then!

Your designs have proven so popular that you're creating official t-shirts for events like MCM Expo – do you have plans for more official tees?

We do not have any specific plans for Official T-shirts at the moment although we have worked with other conventions to help produce their con-t-shirts.

What has been the best part of 2012 for Genki so far?

I think the best part has been the reaction from all our customers to all our new designs and how much support we are getting. Its difficult to pick out any event or happening more specifically as we have just had a great time and feel very lucky to be able to work at something which gives us such a great time!

What's been your favourite design this year?

Personally I think I would say the Oopsie design has been my absolute favourite of the new designs so far but I think that is about to be topped by our August release of Cutethulhu and I know that Phil would answer differently and say Science Investigates the Unknown.

And your favourite Genki design ever?

That is a really tough question we have done so many and I love them for different reasons. For instance I really love Wombat Roar for the look on the wombats face but Attack Kittens is just so Cute and I still have retro love for the early stuff like Not Cute and Ninja Bunny. I think Phil would probably say Rampage which is also our most requested retired design. If I have to choose only one I guess I would say Cupcake of Doom for its humour and cuteness!

How do you see Genki expanding over the next 12 months?

We will be expanding our product range even more and looking at some great new projects to meet some of the requests from us customers for new ranges.
We are also attending more events and will be doing everything we can to meet people as bring out even more designs.

Anything you’d like to say to all your fashionable friends?

Thanks for all the support and we hope we can continue to bring Weird but cute designs to you for another year!

If you fancy yourself as stylish as, say Roy from C4's The IT Crowd (above) maybe you should visit www.genkigear.co.uk and get yourself something stylish too!
