It's not a particularly good idea to use flash memory as swap space, because it has a limited number of write cycles, and as swap tends to be quite read/write intensive (if you're having to use it a lot), it would start to fail in a relatively short amount of time (couple of years?). If you're swapping a lot, you're better off increasing system memory.

Yeah, the degredation is a problem. This is proberbly true for flash drives at the moment despite Samsung promising otherwise. I think at some point in the future flash becomes more reliable.

The problem with photoshop is that it doesn't matter how much ram you throw at it, it eats it all. This isn't suprising seeing that I've been working on 320mb psd files!!


EDIT: the word on the 'street' is that there will be a price drop for Nvidia cards next week as they move into Q3 and release 8800 chipset series. Hope that helps.
