Default Newest mircosoft update ruins my computer

The automatic updater started on my computer the other day and reset it while i was away, and now I cant access the internet anymore.

I managed to roll back the computer to a earlier date and get rid of the problem, but now it wants to install itself again and i'll be back to square one. I beleive its called Software Distribution Service 3.0.

Im sorry if im not making all that much sense, just getting over a rather nasty case of the flu.

Sounds like a bit of an MS screw-up - I feel your pain though, Vista installed new audio drivers yesterday and killed my sound :/

I'm guessing you're using ZoneAlarm? If so, supposedly setting your Internet Zone Security permission slider from high to medium should fix (or rather work-around) it.

I'll give that a try Hanners, thanks for the help. Its a big annoyance to have to roll back my computer each time it automatically restarts.

Just to follow this up, it appears that all of the effected applications (Zone Alarm et al) now have an update available.
