Default PSP 2000 series for sale (requires some repair)

Item is now on hold for Fidelis

Since all the major stores that do trade in have refused this for one reason or another I'm going to see if I can get shot of this here.

PSP 2000 series in all round good condition (apart from the problems that need sorting out) with original battery and charger (OFW 6.20)

Now here's the bad news there are some problems of which most can be repaired or would not cause and issues with general gameplay

1. there is a square-ish shaped burn (well I can only describe it like that even though it looks more like a shadow) on the upper left hand side of the display which only seems to show with certain colours and it seems that the LCD panel has shifted a bit to the right (so said the guys at CeX but I'm not buying it)

2. there's two cracks on the faceplate situated on the lower left and right of the screen right near the start and home buttons

3. there is a glitch (I can only state it is that since the chance of this problem occurring is around 1 in 200) where the system thinks the WLAN switch is off when in fact it is on but as I've already mentioned the chance of this happening is extremely rare.

All of this is going for £40 including postage (by special delivery next day) and packing (the low price is due to the faults even though I would've gotten £50+ from CeX if it wasn't for the cracked faceplate and shifted screen and the fact that they sell these units for £90)

Payment can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer (I won't take paypal due to the charges even though I do have a account).

Anyone who wants this can either PM me or leave a message here (if this doesn't go then its going to be thrown out).

I may be interested, mind if i ask what colour it is, as odd as it sounds only certain solour 2000 series can have cfw installed on them. I've got a 1k model but i wouldnt mind a 2 or 3k for the video output. I'll have a look online, see if i can find the parts to repair it, if i can i'll probably take it off your hands

If anyone wants any help rebuilding it then I don't mind doing it for free so long as they pay for the parts - I've rebuilt a lot of PSP's in my time.

Spare LCD is £22 from Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQitemZ370093617420

Replacement faceplate (unofficial) is about £7, a bit more for an official Sony one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-PSP-2000-...item335700ba82

Just to give you an idea of total likely cost. £60 isn't bad at all for a PSP, and I can even chuck CFW on there if you want it.

It's the black model (at least 2 years old) so it should be easy to get CFW running on it unless the 6.20 firmware had closed those holes, but as ross has said you can get parts for the PSP to get the screen and the faceplate sorted just make sure you get the correct parts as there are some differences between the 1000 and 2000 series that affects both the faceplate and the LCD panel.

When repairing a PSP makes sure that you don't need a specialised screwdriver to get into the case. I can't remember whether it's the 2000 series that uses the peculiar screws...I recall Weirdo had a hell of a time with his but he might remember where he got the screwdriver from. Best of luck with it!

If you have a Japanese 2000 series (Slim and lite, which me and Yorkshire Badger have) you WILL need a T1 torx screwdriver, and these buggers are miniscule.

The UK ones i have seen don't have these, and just use philips heads. Amazed how simple it is to fix PSPs though.

Should be easy enough to pandora that bugger though.

I recently Pandora'd a 6.20 PSP 2000, it was a doddle once I had the right Magic Memory Stick.

Ah PSP software modding. I remember when I used to be quite into this. I bricked my PSP using the Lumines exploit and had a hell of a time trying to get everything to work properly. I recall installing CFW on a few PSPs at school lunch when me and my friend (though I dont really like him anymore) always used to play this crappy game. It was amazing, and only has a 26mb .iso. Fun times.

off topic, I know, but still.

Yeah fixing the machine itself isn't really an issue. I can dismantly pretty much every console going and fix whatever needs fixing. 360's are the most common, 33 to fix rrod and maybe 20mins lol. I'll have to ask my friend(works for sony) if tyhey have any future plans to disable cfw from ad-hoc party. Once i get a reply from him i'll let you know

I doubt any grunt at sony will know that since there might be no current plans to cut those using PSPs using CFW but they might just cut them off without any warning.

Its very hard for them to tell nowadays.

There are plenty of plugins out there to basically falsify you having CFW when on PSN.

I've now altered the price to now include delivery costs (considering how stupid some postmen are I'm just making sure the item gets there).

Also if I don't hear anything back by the end of this month then the console will be disposed of by other means.

*registers interest*

Very interested in both this and Ross' kind offer, is it still available?

You'll have to wait for me to get paid on a job, but if no one else has got back to you I daresay that's not much of a worry =]

That's no problem but priority for this item is still with ShinAsura but if I hear nothing back by the time you have the money to pay then priority will shift to you.
