Hi, just to let people know that we've had a recent influx of new Manga titles in store and have re-expanded(is that a word) our Manga section. Let me know what you want in and I'll do my best to order it in wherever possible. Feel free to come and browse our section, and enjoy some great Manga.

I was in Waterstones today but didn't have time to get to manga - only had 20 minutes before the shop shut and was trying to find Kelly Armstrong (which I managed - just!)
Is this influx nationwide or just your store?

Yeah I do this, but when a group of fans around 10 years younger than me run over and start grabbing books I kind of edge away. They don't even seem to browse, just talk about what series might/might not be good based on the covers, and then chat about reading Bleach online... ><;
There's a Waterstones I go to where the guy who runs the department knows his stuff, he's a published comic artist to boot so it's a real safe zone. This means the store has a decent range and a non-judgemental atmosphere. Otherwise I'm in and out with my purchase at a speed not even Sasuke can register! |

Sadly, they've actually halved the manga section quite recently at my local Waterstone's, which is rather depressing...

I think I've brought 1 volume from them that I was actually looking for, one of the Higurashi volumes. Amazon does not like release dates being moved around, so buying it actually got me it quicker.
Seen a fair few shops cut their selection down quite a lot, although the quality of titles available has gone up (more to do with Tokyopop cutting back (and losing Kodansha licences) and more Yen press titles being available). On the other hand there are pleanty of comic shops round here, they tend to get my custom more often. |

Is that a comment on Tokyopop? I like Tokyopop, I have their FLCL and Chobits books.

thanks
Each store is different and will carry different stock. I'm really keen to push Manga and offer a great selection in store for my manga buyers. It's depressing when they shrink the section down, thats why i thought i'd post to let people know am expanding the section I import alot from the states, as well as stock alot of Uk rights stuff Last edited by Matt Kamen; 11-03-2010 at 08:46 PM. Aye, the manchester store does a lot of that with the Science Fiction section. Still the best section i have seen in any store other than Forbidden Planet London (which is £££!!). Its quite interesting that they give you that level of stock control. Very interesting

Tokyopop have some cool stuff, but the last year or so has been quite rough for them imo. I think their only current series I buy these days is Sgt. Frog. :/ (I want more GTO Early Years please!) |

So as well as Big Lukes in the Metrocentre (Good for the buffet food). There is now a decent Waterstones as well =)
I used to love Borders, they seem to have quite a lot, but I have notcied with Waterstones, that some stores don't seem to stock up on Manga as good as others.

Wont be an issue. I buy all my Manga off Amazon Marketplace, and 95% of it I will buy used. Its cheap as chips, sometimes can grab a volume of something for £2.76 (Listed a £0.01 and has £2.75 P&P) such as Fruits Basket.
