I used to champion Avira as its consistently got the best detection rate, but the free ads are really starting to piss me off.

I just use Windows 10's built-in anti-virus, it does the job well enough without eating all of your system resources (*cough* Kaspersky *cough*) or being overly obtrusive.

Panda Free for me, partly based on reviews and partly based on discussions with friends in that area of security. Also partly down to previous bad experience with Kaspersky.

Avira. Used to use Avast but it doesn't seem as reliable these days.

I suggest that you constantly bash the check for updates button (if you haven't already gotten the latest updates installed) since there's a major zero day flaw in defender that can allow remote code to be executed that was just patched.

Like a lot of things, they're all fine until you have a problem. Though some are much more likely to give you a problem than others. I used to swear by Kaspersky but ditched it for similar reasons to Hanners, also because it got to the point where the shit they were pulling to "protect" you was borderline malware behaviour anyway. - But then most are like that these days, they have to cripple a bunch of stuff in Windows in order to operate, at which point you have to ask yourself how much you trust them?

If you want the best then look at https://www.av-comparatives.org/ - Though like Hanners I just use defender these days and do my best to avoid making myself a target (so avoid clicking any links Seb sends XD).
