Default Dragon Ball manga to get new film adaptation

http://www.uk-anime.net/newsitem/Dra...daptation.html

It seems like a number of old classics will be getting a new airing in the near future...

Can't be any worse than the last attempt I suppose. I still can't believe how popular this series is.

This. It could be a proper film, or one of those 45-50 minute jobs. Also no idea from what time period it could be from as the series covers 40-odd years from Goku as a kid onwards...

Double post - More info here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/ne...on-ball-z-film

Looking at the characters on show there, it looks like they'll be going from quite late into the series.

We can all breathe a sigh of relief, it's animated.

Not too surprisingly, annual video games, Kai, a wave of figures, new mediocre manga publications, marketing has done wonders for Dragon Ball.

Seems to be post... everything. Kuririn has the long hair, Gohan has the straight black hair going on (unless it's set before the Hildegarn movie).
“The mightiest get moving: All humanity has been waiting. Toward an unprecedented excitement"
That's so ****ing Dragon Ball, I love it.

I feel out of the loop with all things Dragon ball (Z) considering I lost interest soon after the Cell Games, and I didn't like what I saw of the original (though I'll admit I didn't really give it a chance).

That said I probably wouldn't mind seeing this.

Try reading it. Honestly, the manga is so much better than the anime that it's not even funny (also, start from the beginning, not the mid-way point... things just make more sense that way ). If you invest enough time into those early volumes, it really pays off. The 23rd Tenka-Ichi Budokai is one of my favourite fights in manga; period.

I probably would try reading it if there wasn't so much to read. It's off-putting. That, and it would be fairly expensive to purchase for a poor bugger like me. I'm against digital books and readin on a screen, regardless of legality so that's out of the window too

I'll try and watch it at some point from the start. It's worth giving it a "proper" go.

You'd spend roughly the same price getting the manga as you would getting the whole thing on DVD, (considering most stores do the whole 'buy 2 get 1 free' deal). The anime is chock full of filler, padded out scenes, poor animation days, it's really just lost all charm for me.
I think if you wanted to get into Dragon Ball back when it was airing weekly on TV for free, then a great way to get into it is via the anime... but these days.... I dunno man.
