Storage drive data recovery
so basically my external storage drive decided it was bored and deleted all of the data i had on it. While Recuva was able to retrive some of my file ive still lost a significant number of other files [including family photos and whatnot].
With the current only other option available to pay £50-£100+ to get a professional company to have a go i was wondering anyone here could come up with an alternative option [read: ONE NOT COSTING £100+]?

Try TestDisk and/or PhotoRec. Make sure you don't write anything to the drive or you risk overwriting data, rendering it completely unrecoverable.

I used TestDisk (Linux version, as Windows refused to boot with the HDD plugged in) to recover 700Gb of data from a messed up drive, so lets hope it can help you.

great news!
In less than 6 hours i've recovered more files and podcasts from my drives than i the last three days. happosai -when next we meet drinks are on me.
