Default 3DS XL £79.99 at Game if you trade in your old model

http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/3DS/N...ws.asp?c=43385

So, anyone tempted? I have to admit the new screen is rather lush, but I'm also quite fond of the existing system (well, the build if not the controls anyway).

For anyone on the fence, here's Eurogamer's hardware review:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/df...-3ds-xl-review

So, upgrade? Laugh in derision? Blow up Nintendo?

Im going to get one at some stage but we only have a choice of HMV and Gamestop over here as Game shut down so I'll probably get the same deal in HMV for €99.

I thought about it but I think I will stick with my older version, even though the screen is really nice, I think the size is pretty much the same as the DSi XL and I find that to big for my hands I have trouble with the shoulder buttons.

Plus if I traded mine in to get a new one I would lose all my stuff on my old one -I had a lot XD-to transfer it over you would have to buy the new one then trade the old one

One think I did notice is that the 3DS XL doesn't come with a charger -we got them in at work today- you need to buy one

GAME throw in the charger apparently.

I spent some time with one at MCM on Saturday, and it wasn't as horrendous as I'd feared. Not as stylish as the original, but the screen is quite massive.

Dunno if I'd trade for it, I think it might be the only way I'd ever see £90 back on my the original though :/

I caved and went for it. I'm playing on my 3DS most days at the minute so figured it'd be better for my eyes and general comfort to go for the bigger screen.

For anyone else tempted be warned, Game may well ask for for AR cards and charger base along with the regular charger and system if you opt for the trade-in. It's not mentioned anywhere on any Terms and Condition that I've seen, so stood my ground and got the deal, but it could prove a problem for others if staff insist.

Basically I was made to feel some kind of scammer and was grudgingly allowed the deal once I called them out on it (I handily produced a print out from their website, which is more evidence than they could produce to me to back up their claims). Also be warned that even though data transfer is offered on the website and went their in good faith, they can't actually follow through when asked in-store. As such I've lost all my old data. Not massively impressed over the ordeal truth be told and came out more upset than happy to have bought a new machine. >_>;

Whatever. I've got one now and it's pretty nice. Only had it on for a couple seconds, but the screens are really good. It does feels more plasticy which brings it more in line with older DS models rather than the regular 3DS, but feels pretty good in the hands and am pretty sure it's going to get a lot of use.

My boyfriend traded his the other week at game, they said they couldnt do a data transfer but allowed us to take both consoles away to the local Mcdonalds to do the transfer using their wi-fi, didnt go very well, but after going back to the store, trying to do the data transfer on our phone's and failing for the third time, our game store allowed him to take both ds's home and return his old one the next day, we were really pleased with how they let him do that. I guess your store's staff didnt think about taking your details and letting you do that. Also our store never botherd to ask about the extras, they were actually surprised when my boyfriend gave them the box, papers, and accessories o.o'

A Game run by sane people... will wonders never cease? [/jealous] ;D

Glad you got some good service. I thought about going back to mine to drop off the extra bits they insisted on having, but when I thought about it I didn't think them worth the effort. ^^;

Unless they extended it, it expired on 16th/17th (I traded mine in just before expiry). Not sure what the trade-in value would be outside of that.
