With a new season of anime about to start in Japan, we've been waiting patiently to see what shows (if any) are snapped up by streaming service Crunchyroll, and today gives us our first new offering so far - Aoi Hana.
The series (which translates into English literally as Blue Flower, but tends to go by the alternate name of Sweet Blue Flowers) is based on a manga Takako Shimura which depicts the relationship between two girls - Former childhood friends torn apart as one of them moves away, only to return years later to renew their close friendship.
The anime adaptation is produced by J.C. Staff, whose recent work includes Toradora! and Hatsukoi Limited as well as probably their best-known effort, Shana.
Crunchyroll will be releasing new episodes of this series every Wednesday at 8AM UK time (and yes, the series is available to UK viewers) - With premium members getting new episodes a week before standard members as per usual.
You can find the first episode available to watch, and more on the series, at Crunchyroll's Aoi Hana page. Also, don't forget that you can learn more about both this show and other series broadcast as part of Japan's summer anime season in our own Summer 2009 anime preview.
