First two volumes already available

Kodansha release bilingual Chihayafuru volumes in Japan

If you're one of the growing number of western fans of karuta-based series Chihayafuru following the streaming of its anime adaptation in the UK, then you might be interested to know via The Fandom Post that Kodansha have now begun releasing the original award-winning manga upon which that series is adapted in a set of bilingual volumes.

At the time of writing, the first two volumes of Chihayafuru are available from Japan (and, of course, Japanese online retailers) containing both Japanese and English text, although the latter is admittedly simply as rough translation rather than the kind of love afforded normally translated English language manga.

These volumes are currently available for around £9 (before taking shipping into account), and might well prove to be the only way to get hold of a series which will otherwise hold little interest for many western readers - you can currently find both volumes at CD Japan amongst other retailers.

Would you be tempted to pick up these releases? Let us know in the comments!
