You've probably all seen seminal anime movie Akira at this point, but an opportunity to see the film on the big screen should never go amiss.

With that in mind, you might want to free up your diary on Wednesday, 21st September 2016, as the film will be screening at over 70 locations across the country to celebrate the 25th anniversary of distributor Manga Entertainment, and in advance of a new relase of the film as a new Triple-Play Collector's Edition on 28th November.

This marks the widest theatrical outing for the film since its original run - if you want to find out locations where the film is screening near you, then you can do so via the Akira movie web site which will point you in the right direction for locations and to book tickets.

Here's the press release with all of the details:

AKIRA
CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF MANGA ENTERTAINMENT

12 August 2016, London, England - Manga Entertainment is excited to announce that they will be screening the cult anime classic Akira across the UK to celebrate their twenty-fifth birthday this year!

The showings will take place on the 21st September, and will play on over 70 screens - making this the widest UK theatrical release of the film since its original run!

“Iconic and game-changing, Akira is the definitive anime classic which even after decades since its initial release still holds up as one of the most thrilling and visceral films you will ever see! In celebration of Manga’s 25th anniversary we will be re-releasing Akira in cinemas this September on over 70 screens across the UK. Not only that, in November we will be releasing a collector’s edition triple play – DVD, Blu-ray and digital copy housed in a rigid box, containing both English dubs as well as brand new artwork. This is an absolute must for any Akira fan!" - Andrew Hewson, Marketing Manager
