Anime studio Artland ceases operation

Anime studio Artland ceases operation

Written by A. H. on 07 Jul 2017

It's always sad to see any anime studio shutter its doors, but this is particularly the case today as it's been confirmed that studio Artland closed its doors on June 30th this year, having racked up debts of 298 million Yen (or just over £2 million).

Established in 1978, the studio was involved as a co-producer in Super Dimension Fortress MacrossLegend of the Galactic Heroes and Megazone 23, and also worked in its own right on the likes of Mushishi.

Most recently, the studio has been producing the Seven Mortal Sins TV anime series - with the show suffering production delays, there are still two episodes left to be broadcast of the series at the time of writing. There's currently no news on whether production on the series is complete, or if it will be impacted further by the studio's closure.
