Aniplex USA announce Sword Art Online Extra Edition and Silver Spoon Season 2 release plans

With Anime Weekend Atlanta going on in the US this weekend, North American distributor Aniplex of America were on hand to announce a couple of planned releases for their territory for December.

First up was Sword Art Online: Extra Edition, a special feature length mix of new animation and a recap of the first season's story as a lead-in to Sword Art Online II. The special will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on December 23rd in the US, with both English and Japanese audio together with English subtitles, and bundled with a booklet and poster.

The episode is also still available to be viewed on Crunchyroll - given that the first season proper was released in the UK by Manga Entertainment, we'll be keeping a close eye on them to see if they have any designs on releasing Extra Edition over here.

Also announced was a DVD-only, subtitle-only release of Silver Spoon's second season, which will be released as a three disc complete collection on December 16th. Again, the series is available in streaming form via Crunchyroll.
