It's been a while since we've had a notable anime-related Kickstarter project to dig into, but this morning we had this drop into our mailbox - news of a project being run by Awesome Japan to fund an original anime project named Chuya-den - The Night and Day Chronicles.
The project seeks to raise US $100,000 by November 15th 2015, with a view towards creating a four-part, 24 minute OVA series subsequent to a 10 minute pilot episode. The first announced stretch goal sits at $130,000 for the creation of an English dub.
The project has been created by Yoshiyuki Kaneko, aka Yoshiko, with other notable talents attached to the project including character creator Kensuke Ishikawa and character designer Shota Ueno, while confirmed voice talents for the work incude Yui Horie and Yu Kobayashi.
Here's a brief outline of the concept for the project:
Unlike the weather forecast of our world, the world of the Yokai has a forecast for both day and night. Today, day might be 14 hours long. Tomorrow, night might 14 hours long. The next day, there may be 6 hours of day and 9 hours of night. In this world the days and nights are always changing.
What is cause of the time shifts? The Yokai Chanbara—the epic battle for control of time between the Day Yokai and the Night Yokai.
Now, the world is faced with the extraordinary disappearance of the sun.The world will be covered in darkness. A night without end.
All that stands in the way are three human children. Shu, Yuna and Kenta have been swept up in the Yokai Chanbara and must fight to bring back the day!
You can find lots more information, including trailers and more visuals, on the project's Kickstarter page.
