Chihayafuru's second anime season confirmed

Announced via latest volume of Japanese manga release

Chihayafuru's second anime season confirmed

Given its subject matter, that being the decidedly Japanese card game of karuta, Chihayafuru was a surprising hit amongst a number of anime fans in the autumn 2011 and winter 2012 seasons thanks to a streaming turn on Crunchyroll.

If you were one of that number who enjoyed the series, the good news is that a second season of Chihayafuru has now been officially confirmed thanks to an announcement accompanying the seventeenth volume of the original Japanese manga release.  There's no official date for when the series will air, but we've heard on the grapevine to expect a winter 2013 season release to continue the show's tale of a group of high school karuta players in their bid to reach the top of their game.

You can still check out Chihayafuru from the UK Anime Network video portal - we also reviewed the series in three chunks here, here and here.

Will you be looking forward to a second season of Chihayafuru, and hoping it streams to the UK?  Let us know!
