Crunchyroll to stream Amanchu this summer; more details on Berserk and ReLIFE

Written by A. H. on 28 Jun 2016

With July approaching fast, we're beginning to see more details emerge around Crunchyroll's summer season streaming line-up - we've already seen a bundle of titles announced without dates or geographical restrictions confirmed, but last night saw details clarified on a pair of those titles while two all-new announcements also emerged.

Starting with the clarifications, we now know that ReLIFE will be coming to the UK, with Crunchyroll matching the pattern of Japan's streaming release by making the entire series available to premium members on Friday, 1st July (with only the first episode available to free members until a later date).

The series will appear on this Crunchyroll page, but for now here's the synopsis:

Arata Kaizaki (27) quit the job he landed after graduation in only three months. His life did not go well after that. Now his parents are threatening to stop sending money, and want him to come back to the country. He has no friend or girlfriend to share his troubles with...as he hits rock bottom a strange man named Ryo Yoake appears. Yoake invites Kaizaki to join a societal rehabilitation program for NEETs called ReLife. This program uses a mysterious drug to make him look younger, and sends him back to high school for a year...

Also clarified is UK streaming for the new Berserk TV anime series, the first episode of which will arrive on Friday 1st July, with episodes airing each week at 3:30PM UK time from this Crunchyroll page. Here's the series description:

Boasting a deep story, fascinating characters, overwhelming and intricate art, and an unparalleled creative flair, it makes a strong impact on reader hearts and lives. It’s a fantasy comic that has fascinated not only Japanese readers, but people all over the world, and is widely considered to be one of the leading comics of all time. Set in a world where swordplay, magic, and monsters run wild, it portrays the protagonist Guts’ magnificent way of life. Packed to the brim with top-notch action, romance, spectacular scenes, and drama, it is sure to entertain the audience!

Onto new announcements now, where we can confirm that the UK will be getting to check out Amanchu! (courtesy, as far as we're aware, of a license directly acquired by a UK distributor). This series starts on Friday, 8th July, with episodes arriving every week at 4:30PM UK time via this Crunchyroll page. Again, here's the synopsis:

It is spring, the season of great changes. Hikari Kohinata is an overwhelmingly cheerful and outgoing 15-year-old girl who has spent all her life in a small and beautiful seaside town on the Izu peninsula. On the first day of high school, she meets Futaba Oki, a slightly introverted girl who has just moved from Tokyo. Before she knows it, Futaba gets dragged along into Hikari's passion for scuba diving. And from there, Futaba gradually starts to come out of her shell, and learns how to take challenges and dive into the ocean of life.

Our final addition for the day is The Morose Mononokean, which hits the UK on Sunday, 3rd July with episodes airing each week at 4:30PM UK time - the original manga upon which this anime adaptation is based is also available on Crunchyroll, while the anime itself can be found on this page. Here's what it's all about:

"Exorcism" is the art of sending yokai who have somehow wandered into the living world back into the underworld, where they belong. One day Hanae Ashiya, a high school student who's been haunted by a yokai, happens to find the contact information of an exorcist called the "Mononokean" and pays him a visit. The exorcist he meets is a morose-looking young man, Haruitsuki Abeno, and for various reasons Ashiya ends up working for the Mononokean...

And so the story of the exorcist duo Ashiya and Abeno, and the yokai they meet in their adventures, begins.

Which of these titles are you excited about? Let us know in the comments!
