Digital Manga books at The Works book stores

£2.99 end of line books for manga techniques

Digital Manga books at The Works book stores

End-of-line book store The Works has 3 manga artwork books on shelves for £2.99 each.

Comickers Art 2: Create Amazing Manga Characters is a conversational book discussing the thinking behind comic artwork and character designs, and includes interviews and artwork with some of the industries hottest current talent, including Hiroshi Kanno, You Higuri, Eiji Usatsuka and Go Nagai. Worth the price of admission just for that cover by Eiji Usatsuka!

Digital Manga Workshop by J Hodges and L Cibos is a technical guide to using digital techniques by the creators of the Tokyopop Rising Stars of Manga contest with their entry, Peach Fuzz. Starting with the most basic information (including what a computer is, by component!) and moving up to actual software techniques, the book is bound to have the odd tip or trick that's new to you. The artwork is very Americanized Manga in style, and as such may not appeal to everyone, but it's the detail and not the art that's important here.

Digital Manga Techniques by Hayden Scott-Baron utilises a broad approach, going through character types and styles before imparting any technical information. The book uses a variety of artists for the illustrations, and while this makes it a little hit and miss, you really can't argue with anything that has Laura Watton's artwork in it.

All 3 books are on shelves now, but when they're gone, they're probably pulped!

With thanks to James Taylor for the heads up.
