Written by Hayley Scanlon on 24 Aug 2015

Following on from its theatrical run and festival appearances, the debut film from Taiwanese director Chienn Hsiang is released today on DVD and VOD from Facet Film Distribution.

Exit follows the story of Ling, an ordinary middle aged woman with a distant teenage daughter and a husband working away in Shanghai. Beginning to feel increasingly isolated, Ling experiences several crushing blows within a short space of time including a diagnosis of early onset menopause and losing her job. However, whilst visiting the hospital to care for her mother-in-law Ling becomes fascinated by another patient who has mysterious injuries and no visitors to help him. Through her contact with the stranger in the next bed, something within Ling begins to reawaken.

You can read our review of EXIT here and look out for our upcoming interview with the film's leading actress Chen Shiang-Chyi who won the prestigious Golden Horse award for her performance in the film!
