After a rather long hiatus, Anime Limited's All The Anime blog has returned to posting month-by-month updates of UK anime sales data, letting us see what was hot and what, well, wasn't in the UK.
With a backlog of 2014 data still being processed, we can however leap ahead and take a look at last month's data taking in the month of February 2015 - here's the chart (from biggest seller to lowest) for new releases over the course of the month:
1. Naruto Shippuden - Box Set 20
2. Blood Lad - Complete Series Collection
3. Battle Girls: Time Paradox - Complete Series Collection
4. Kamisama Dolls - Complete Series Collection
5. Chrome Shelled Regios - Complete Series Collection
6. Shangri-la - Complete Series Collection
7. Fairy Tail - Part 9
Naruto Shippuden continues to prove a big seller amongst UK fans, racking up just over 1,000 units sold, followed by a successful first month on the market for Anime Limited's release of Blood Lad. A variety of MVM Entertainment releases dominate the rest of the chart (with the second half of Michiko & Hatchin oddly absent from the rankings), before Fairy Tail's ninth volume brings up the rear - admittedly, this instalment was released in the final week of February, but it may offer some early evidence that Manga Entertainment's recent quality issues and dropping of Blu-ray releases could be coming back to bite them in terms of sales.
Meanwhile, Studio Ghibli releases dominate the overall sales charts for the month, with The Wind Rises selling over 3,700 units. Indeed, it's only the aforementioned Naruto box set and the classic Akira from Manga Entertainment that manage to break the STUDIOCANAL stranglehold.
You can check out all of the data on the All The Anime web site - watch out for more data from 2014 over the coming weeks!
