Since the announcement in late February that Funimation Entertainment's new UK streaming service FunimationNow would launch in March, we've been patiently waiting. And waiting. And waiting some more. Then April arrived, and we were greeted with a period of radio silence - just what was going on with the service's launch?
Well, the launch date has now been shifted again, with a new date pencilled in of Thursday, 7th April for the service to go live - a date that surely can't slip any further with the spring season now launching into full flow.
In an e-mail update, it seems likely that this launch will be of a beta version of the service, although the good news that springs from this is that the service will be entirely free for its first 30 days, giving all and sundry an ideal opportunity to try before they buy.
Here's the full update from Funimation themselves:
The FunimationNow site is nearly complete, but we're still doing some work with our partners to get it in a better place to introduce it to you. We apologize for the delay but we’ll officially be launching Thursday, April 7.
We want to give you the opportunity to get an inside look at what we're doing, which is why we’re going to give you a sneak peek at the beta version of our site. We'd love for you to share your feedback and suggestions with us so we can incorporate those in future updates. Because of this unexpected delay, you'll also be able to check out the site and all of our shows, FREE of charge, for a full 30 days once the site goes live.
Check the link below or our Facebook page at Facebook.com/funimation for FAQs and updates, and look for additional information next week regarding the details of the beta site launch and how to share your feedback.
While the site is not quite ready today, the good news is that it's coming on Thursday. In addition, you'll still be able to watch and participate in the My Hero Academia Live Stream Event on Sunday, April 3 at 6 am GMT and begin watching the full season as soon as the service launches. For more information about the event, click here.
Thank you again for your patience and support as we work to get our new site up and running. We look forward to sharing it with you soon!
