Kaze UK clarify lack of 'omake' extras on Bleach Series 9 Part 1

This week saw the start of a new beginning for UK releases of Bleach on DVD, with Monday's release of Series 9 Part 1 proving to be the first volume of the series proper to be produced, authored and manufactured by Kazé and distributed by Manga Entertainment, as opposed to Manga Entertainment performing all of these activities themselves as per previous volumes.

However, we did have one rather glaring issue with the release of this volume of Bleach (and we know we weren't the only ones) as the episodes spread across these two DVDs proved to be bereft of the "omake" bonus material normally included at the end of each episode, previewing the next instalment and offering comical vignettes about the various Soul Reapers and so forth.  Indeed, we mentioned this exact issue in our review of the volume, published on the site today.

So, what was the cause of this omission, and will it happen again?  Kazé UK have taken to Twitter to explain the situation: effectively, a tight production schedule for this volume meant that the company had to choose between either delaying the release or choosing (as they ultimately did to avoid those delays) to use the TV version of the video assets for these episodes, which unfortunately didn't include the "omake" sections normally included on this show's DVD releases.

Kazé have assured us that this shouldn't happen again, and that the "omake" bonus segments will be restored as normal in future UK releases of Bleach - news which will hopefully allow enthusiastic fans of the series to rest easy in advance of the release of Series 9 Part 2 on August 6th.
