The London Korean Film Festival is back for its 10th annual extravaganza of Korean film. Tonight sees the official festival opening with a special gala screening of Ode to My Father - a humourous tribute to Korea's post-war generation, at BFI Southbank with star Hwang Jung-min in attendance for a Q&A after the film.
Tickets for tonight's gala are currently sold out but the festival has plenty of other gems on offer including a second gala screening of the Hwang Jung-min starring action comedy Veteran, again with Hwang Jung-min in attendance for a Q&A on 3rd November at Regent Street Cinema. Veteran will also be preceded by another of Hwang Jung-min's previous hits, The Unjust which will also screen at Regent Street Cinema on November 3rd at 6.30pm. Fans of the popular actor can also enjoy New World at Picture House Ritzy (Brixton) on 6th November 6.45pm and A Good Lawyer's Wife at Regent Street Cinema on 13th November at 8.45pm.
This year's festival also takes a look back over the last ten years to bring you some of the festival's previous greatest hits including The Good, The Bad, The Weird, The Man From Nowhere and The Thieves as well as a tribute to the twentieth anniversary of CJ Entertainment featuring Miss Granny, Memories of Murder, Mother and Masquerade.
There is also a showcase on new directors including A Matter of Interpretation, Romance Joe, A Midsummer's Fantasia and Sleepless Night plus a selection from this year's Busan International Film Festival End of Winter, Social Phobia, Set Me Free, Wild Flowers, We Will Be OK, and The Liar.
That's not to mention classic movies A Bonanza, Sunset on the Sarbin River, and A Swordsman in the Twilight plus documentaries The City in the Water , Collapse, The Island of Shadows and Miryang Arirang - Legend of Miryang 2.
The festival will close with Zhang Lu's Love And... on 14th November, 7pm at Regent Street Cinema with the director present for a Q&A after the film.
