MCM London Comic Con to host EU premiere of Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin III

Written by A. H. on 19 Apr 2016

If you attended last October's MCM London Comic Con, you may have chosen to partake in the MCM Loves Anime event taking place at The Crystal just down the road, which included screenings of Love Live: The School Idol Movie and the first two episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.

If so, next month you'll be able to take in the European premiere of Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin III as it comes to the latest MCM London Comic Con which takes place from May 27th-29th 2016.

Alongside this screening, both the OVA series' mecha designer Mika Akitaka and producer Osamu Taniguchi will be in attendance, presenting a panel and attending signing sessions on the Saturday of the event.

Further details on the when and where of the screening are still to be confirmed, but here's the press release containing the details we have thus far:

MCM London Comic Con to host EU premiere of 'Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin III' plus Sunrise special guests

There'll be mecha magic in the air at MCM London Comic Con this May, with the UK's biggest pop culture festival hosting the European premiere of new Sunrise film Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin III. Comic Con will also welcome the series’ mecha designer and producer, Mika Akitaka and Osamu Taniguchi - both of whom will be signing autographs for fans and presenting a panel on the Saturday of the Excel London show.

An adaptation of Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's best-selling manga, Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin III continues the origin story of iconic Gundam character Char Aznable and his sister Sayla Mass. Subtitled 'Dawn of Rebellion', this latest instalment of Sunrise's flagship franchise follows the young Char and his future comrade Garma Zabi as they enrol at the Zeon military academy and begin the fight for independence against the Earth Federation.

Mika Akitaka has worked as a mechanical designer on a slew of Mobile Suit Gundam titles prior to The Origin, such as Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and Mobile Suit Gundam 0083, along with series such as Martian Successor Nadesico, A Certain Magical Index: Miracle of Endymion, Date A Live, Sakura Wars and Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector. As well as producing The Origin, Osamu Taniguchi's credits include The Piano Forest, Lupin III (TV Special), Moyashimon and slice-of-life comedy Ramen Fighter Miki.

Blu-ray collector's editions of the Gundam: The Origin films are distributed in the UK by Anime Limited. For the company's full range of titles, visit: shop.alltheanime.com
