In the run-up to the release of Persona 5, people are understandably excited to see exactly when this title will be made available in English, and more specifically for our market when it will arrive in Europe.
One thing we do now know courtesy of a news story on MCV is that it won't be NIS America bringing this game, or other Atlus titles, to Europe moving forward, as they've confirmed that as of two weeks ago their alliance with the company has been terminated.
Managing director of NIS America, Takuro Yamashita, confirmed that this is the case, citing an increasingly difficult relationship with Atlus since they were purchased by SEGA:
"Atlus became very picky about selecting the European publishing partner after it was bought by Sega. It always cherry picked its EU publishing partner based on who offered the highest minimum guarantee on a title by title basis. I noticed that it was very difficult for NIS America to establish an equal-partnership with Atlus."
Thus, we shall have to wait with bated breath to see what SEGA Europe do to bring Persona 5 to Europe and whether they can do so in a timely fashion, while we'll also have to keep a close eye on what this means for other Atlus titles on our shores.
