New Edition of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex

Fantastic news today for those of us Ghost in the Shell fans who couldn't quite stretch to Manga Entertainments glorious collectors edition of Stand Alone Complex which released on Blu-ray earlier this year - now theres a standard edition coming!

The set will contain all 52 episodes of Stand Alone Complex 1st and 2nd Gig. It will however lack the gorgeous book that came with the collectors edition and also the three films that were included (although these are already available individually on Blu-ray).

Manga Entertainment have confirmed that there will also be a DVD release of the set and that the chapter point issues reported in the Collectors edition release will be fixed for this release.

The set will be available from all good retailers from 06/08/18.

From 6th August, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 1st & 2nd GIG will be available on DVD & Blu-ray! Both formats will house episodes 1-52 across two cases, collected in a double-walled cardboard slipcase. Extras include interviews & trailers.

In the not so distant future, mankind has advanced to a state where complete body transplants from flesh to machine is possible. This allows for great increases in both physical and cybernetic prowess and blurring the lines between the two worlds. However, criminals can also make full use of such technology, leading to new and sometimes, very dangerous crimes. In response to such innovative new methods, the Japanese Government has established Section 9, an independently operating police unit which deals with such highly sensitive crimes.

Led by Daisuke Aramaki and Motoko Kusanagi, Section 9 deals with such crimes over the entire social spectrum, usually with success. However, when faced with a new A level hacker nicknamed "The Laughing Man," the team is thrown into a dangerous cat and mouse game, following the hacker's trail as it leaves its mark on Japan.
