Angel Beats, Bleach, Ghibli Blu-Rays

New Releases (25/06/2012)

England might be out of the European Championships, but fear not - there's plenty of anime to console yourself with hitting UK retail shelves this Monday.

We can only start with the re-release of a couple of Studio Ghibli films courtesy of STUDIOCANAL, as both Howl's Moving Castle and Tales From Earthsea get a remastered, High Definition treatment in a new DoublePlay DVD and Blu-Ray release.  We'll be reviewing both of these releases very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

Aside from that, today also sees Manga Entertainment release the excellent Angel Beats! on both DVD and Blu-Ray - if you're curious, our thoughts on the series can be found right here.  Also hitting stores today is Bleach - Series 9 Part 1, the first instalment of Bleach to be released by Kaze UK with Manga Entertainment as their distributor.  Watch out for a review very soon!

Conversely, this week is a rather quiet one in terms of manga releases, but it's very much a case of quality rather than quantity as a result as new volumes of both Sunshine Sketch (check out our review here)and Kobato reach the UK, as does the sixth and latest Spice & Wolf light novel, all courtesy of Yen Press.

Looking forward to next week, there's no shortage of manga to catch your eyes, while anime fans will be served up a UK-exclusive in the form of Welcome to the Space Show on DVD and Blu-Ray (our review is coming this week!) and the first season of a little thing you might have heard of called Dragon Ball Z...
