Pony Canyon to enter North American anime home video market

Written by A. H. on 25 Sep 2014

Perhaps having seen the success of Aniplex of America in the North American market, today has seen Pony Canyon reveal that they, too, will be launching their own US label to directly handling streaming and home video releases of their properties.

This new label, PONYCAN USA, already has an official web site, and is currently announcing the company's plans to bring two autumn season shows to North America - YUKI YUNA wa Yusha de aru (which will be streaming to the UK via Crunchyroll) and Denki-gai no Honya-san (which is also coming to Crunchyroll, with regions yet to be confirmed).

Needless to say, we'll be keeping a close eye on this distributor and their plans for the US market (and of course how those plans will or won't filter down to the UK market), but for now what are your thoughts on this development? Let us know, as always, in the comments!
