Raindance Film Festival 2014 announces full programme

Yes, it's that time of year again and the programme for this year's Raindance Film Festival which focusses on independent filmmaking has now finally been revealed. As usual there are a fair few Asian films included too with the much anticipated Fuku-chan of Fukufuku Flats proving a particular highlight. Here's a list of some of the Asian films you can enjoy as part of the festival this year:

Japan 

  • -1287 - a new documentary from Ian Thomas Ash who brought us A2-B-C at last year's festival, -1287 details the final days of 66 year old Kazuko. 1st October 13.00 / 3rd October 21.00
  • And the Mud Ship Sails Away - A new film from Hirobumi Watanabe shortly to be included in Third Window Films New Directors From Japan Box Set. 1st October 20.30 / 2nd October 18.10
  • Fuku-chan of Fukufuku Flats - New Third Window backed comedy from Yosuke Fujita (Fine, Totally Fine). 30th September 21.00 / 1st October 13.40
  • How Selfish I Am! - A new film from the up and coming Daigo Matsui chronicling the stories of four lonely people. 30th September 18.00
  • The Light Shines Only There - A melancholy romance from Mipo-O starring Ayano Go. 29th September 20.20 / 30th September 15.30
  • The Horses of Fukushima - another documentary this time focusing on the plight of Fukushima's wild horses. 27th September 18.00 / 29th Sept 13.10
  • The Lust of Angels - a story of vengeance and train groping! 28th September 18.10
  • Unlucky Woman’s Blues - New effort from pink film director Shinji Imaoka (Underwater Love). 26th September 8.30

China/HK

  • Forgetting To Know You - A story of marital discord. 3rd October 20.30 / 4th October 16.10
  • Norjmaa - The story of a Mongolian shepherd and two soldiers. 28th September 15.50 / 3rd October 15.45
  • The Otherworld - documentary from HK. 2nd October 18.00
  • Today and Tomorrow - three educated but unemployed young men fight for their futures from their apartment. 25th September 20.30 / 26th September 13.00

The festival takes place at the Vue cinema near London's Piccadilly Circus and runs from 24th September to 5th October 2014. Tickets are available now from Vue and you can find the relevant links directly from the festival website or the links listed above. Tickets are priced at £12.75 for evening screenings and £8 matinees with some concessions available. It's certainly shaping up to be an exciting Autumn for fans of Asian cinema - check back tomorrow when the programme for the BFI London Film Festival will also be announced for hopefully another round of Asian cinema gems to be screened on UK shores.
