Sakura-Con 2014 manga and light novel license announcement round-up

Written by A. H. on 20 Apr 2014

This weekend has seen a major convention taking place in the US courtesy of Seattle's Sakura-Con, bringing with it a whole host of manga and light novel announcements from a couple of the industry's major players.

Let's start with Yen Press, whose most notable announcement is that they will be launching a light novel imprint named Yen On, which will house the company's light novel titles such as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Spice & Wolf, Accel World and Sword Art Online, as well as some new additions...

A Certain Magical Index - This tale of magic encroaching upon the science-lef world of Academy City will be coming to the west in its original light novel form, with the first volume slated to appear in the winter.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? - This comedy fantasy light novel series about a clumsy adventurer and a failed goddess will also be seeing its first volume arrive in the winter.

Another - This horror novel will see its previous digital-only release complemented by a hardback, omnibus single volume edition in physical form, due for release in October.

Pandora Hearts ~odds and ends~ - Pandora Hearts fans will get to pick up an English language edition of this art book in November.

The company also had some new manga releases to reveal at their panel:

King of Eden - This new series from 20th Century Boys writer Takashi Nagasaki will be released digitally worldwide chapter-by-chapter beginning on May 1st.

Love at Fourteen - This romantic comedy about two surprisingly mature teenagers and the relationship between them will see its first volume arrive in November.

Gou-Dere Sora Nagihara - This fan service-led romantic comedy about a manga-obsessed boy who sees his favourite character brought to life - albeit with a personality that he wasn't expecting - will also see its first volume ship this November.

The Angel of Elhamburg - The first volume of this supernatural historical romance series will arrive in English in spring 2015.

Also with plenty of announcements to show off was Dark Horse Comics, who unveiled the following:

Oreimo: Kuroneko - This Oreimo spin-off series, which features Kuroneko as its heroine, will see its first volume released in April 2015.

OPUS - This manga from the late Satoshi Kon will be released as a single omnibus volume this November.

Seraphim: 266613336 Wings - Another Satoshi Kon work, this single volume manga will arrive in February 2015.

Legal Drug - This three-volume supernatural series will be released a single volume omnibus edition this September, followed by its sequel series Drug and Drop from January 2015.

Finally, Dark Horse announced that they will be releasing a number of CLAMP titles in digital form, beginning with Clover this May followed by Cardcaptor Sakura and Chobits in June.

Are you excited by any of these myriad announcements?  Let us know in the comments!
