Seven Seas Entertainment license Tomodachi x Monster manga

Hot on the heels of the success of Magical Girl Apocalypse, it seems that manga publisher Seven Seas Entertainment have developed a taste for the dark parody manga genre, which has now manifested itself in the acquisition of Tomodachi x Monster, which has a decidedly unique take on a world of kids and their pocket monsters.

For more details, here's the press blurb:

Seven Seas Entertainment acquires a new ultra-violent, dark parody series with their license of Yoshihiko Inui’s manga series, Tomodachi x Monster.

In a small mountainous village in rural Japan, strange creatures lurk. It’s here that young Wataru hears a voice calling out to him. Wandering from his school, he soon discovers a new “friend” that will transform his life forever – or drastically shorten it. Wataru learns of a hidden world of monsters who seek to befriend young children, and together with them enter a horrifying death match.

Tomodachi x Monster is like a certain pocket-monster story gone horribly wrong,” said Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis. “With this series you get to watch what really happens when kids with no conscience get hold of monstrous friends to do their bidding. Cute, yet macabre and gory. Tomodachi x Monster is to kids-and-their-monsters series what Magical Girl Apocalypse is to magical girl series.”

Seven Seas will release Tomodachi x Monster for the first time in print in North America as three individual volumes, each with a colour insert. The first volume will be released on February 23, 2016 for $12.99 US / $14.99 CAN.
