Seven Seas acquire Giant Spider and Me: A Post-Apocalyptic Tale

Written by A. H. on 23 May 2017

If there's one thing I'm sure we can all get behind, it's our shared love of spiders... especially giant ones; huge ones as big as or even bigger than humans. No? Just me then?

If you're not on-board with that sentiment, then you may want to avoid manga publisher Seven Seas Entertainment's latest license acquisition, as they yesterday revealed their plans to release Giant Spider & Me: A Post-Apocalyptic Tale.

Here's how the publisher describes the series in their press release (as if the title didn't tell you most of what you needed to know):

Seven Seas Entertainment is pleased to announce the license acquisition of the manga series Giant Spider & Me: A Post-Apocalyptic Tale by Kikori Morino, an offbeat, fantastical slice of life story about food and friendship between two very different species.

A young girl named Nagi and a giant spider make an unusual pair in this post-apocalyptic story, but living in the mountains is lonely, and they’ve managed to find each other. Join them in their strangely sweet domestic bliss as they spend their days sharing tea and throwing picnics, proving that love (and delicious food) can bring together even the most unlikely of friends.

“Fans of The Ancient Magus’ Bride and The Girl From the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún will especially love this series, since it ran in the same magazine,” says Seven Seas Production Manager Lissa Pattillo. “It’s a really creative take on the slice of life genre, complete with a charming arachnid lead!”

The first volume of the series has been slated for a February 20th 2018 release, with the series being published as single volumes. You can find the announcement in full on the Seven Seas Entertainment web site.
