Shigeto Koyama announced as MCM London Comic Con anime guest of honour

Major MCM Comic Con events almost always afford us the opportunity to welcome an anime guest of honour straight from Japan these days, and this month's MCM London Comic Con will be no different in this regard.

Last week, it was confirmed that this forthcoming event will be graced by the presence of Shigeto Koyama, who holds a number of credits to his name including work as the art director on Kill la Kill, key animation on all three Rebuild of Evangelion movies, and design work on everything from Gurren Lagann to the creation of Big Hero 6's Baymax. Most recently, he directed Japan Animator Expo short Obake-chan.

Mr. Koyama will be in attendance at the show, which runs from October 23rd to the 25th at London's ExCel centre - here's the full press blurb below:

Shigeto Koyama to be anime guest of honour at London Comic Con

Mecha maestro, character designer and animator Shigeto Koyama is to be MCM London Comic Con's anime guest of honour when the show returns to ExCel later this month.

Best known in the West as the designer of Big Hero 6's lovable robot Baymax, Koyama has worked on a string of acclaimed anime, such as hyperkinetic Studio Trigger series Kill la Kill and Hideaki Anno's Rebuild of Evangelion movies.

Since making his anime debut with 2004's Diebuster, Shigeto Koyama has helped design the aesthetic of a host of top mecha shows - his credits include Hiroyuki Imaishi's iconicGurren Lagann, Bones show Eureka Seven and its sequels, Takuya Igarashi's Star Driver and Yoshiyuki Tomino’s 2014 series Gundam Reconguista in G.

In addition, Shigeto Koyama has been involved with anime such as HeromanSpace DandyMichiko & HatchinPanty & Stocking and Ghost in the Shell SAC: Solid State Society, as well as acting as mecha and weapon designer on Suda51 game No More Heroes.

Koyama also recently made his directorial debut, helming Obake-chan - an original short animation about a ghostly girl and her equally spectral cat.
