At least it has the terrible art design for the people! Anyone miss the remixed version Tokyopop did?
Got to argue with the review, but then when I first found out about Initial D I was doing regular track days, my MX-5 had been highly modified (super charged) and had part been replaced by a RX7 FD3 (again modified) and so it made sense to me plus it's the tension and the races crossing multiple episodes that really made it. Just a shame the story became screwy further down the line. Showing it to a friend actually resulted in him being stopped by the Police when driving back from mine for tackling a roundabout too aggressively .... Got to read the revue properly - yes the movie lost too much of the atmosphere of the original Tokyopop version destroyed key parts of it - names were Anglicised (the manga started to move this way as well, but no where nearly as bad), the music was changed to US grunge (I can let that one go though the j-pop did work) the engine noises were changed from the real ones to US lazy V8s and the whole sexual part was removed, despite being key to Natsume's views, the later attempted rape, and in the live-action version, the reason for Takume and Natsume splitting.
