Lovestruck Harima returns to pursue the love of his life, the ditzy Tenma, with his greatest adversary being his own imagination and a complete lack of perspective. Tenma continues to lust after Kurasama, who in turn lusts after curry. Business as usual then!

School Rumble is notably a favourite of mine - it's hard to hide the fact when there's a quote from you on the cover ^^;

So do the following volumes keep up the pace? Happily the answer is a resounding "yes", and as the introductions to the characters are over with, these two volumes basically play out as a sketch show - the format remains the same, 3 acts to an episode, and the creativity contained within is substantial.

The highlight of the show so far comes in volume 2, where lovelorn Harima imagines himself as a lone warrior fighting the evil hordes of his nemesis, a very Tokyo Babylon-esque Karusama. The 1 minute clip really rams in references, covering Fist of the North Star and Dragonball Z among others - it's a fantastic little clip and very well handled.

Of course, the show doesn't just rely on spoof to get the laughs in - there's plenty to enjoy as fights erupt around the school (including an entire sketch set during pool cleaning duty which turns into an impromptu battle to decide a class activity) and all through the fast-paced action we're introduced to new characters, all of which add their own unique spin on events.

So much of the commentary that applied to the volume 1 review remains true here - it's fast, funny, well scripted (in both English & Japanese) and if screwball comedy is your bag, this is for you.
