Artists of Sakamoto Days opening and ending themes share a message for fans

Written by Ross Locksley on 14 Jan 2025

Music artists who provided the opening and ending themes from the new Netflix anime Sakamoto Days have a message for fans. Since we've already posted a first look article we're happy to share the good vibes.

Vaundy - Run Sakamoto RunRun Sakamoto Run cover and artist Vaundy

The opening theme was written by 24 year old Vaundy, an artist who writes lyrics, composes and arranges tracks on his own, alongside producing and directing his own videos. He began his career posting videos to Youtube in the spring of 2019 - since then he has racked up over 100 million views for the 16 songs released, making him the number one make solo artist in Japan. He's contributed music for Chainsaw Man, Doraemon and Ranking of Kings.

Message from Vaundy:

When I wrote “RUN SAKAMOTO RUN”, I aimed to convey the inspirational protagonist Sakamoto’s overwhelming, unmatched strength.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to record the song in London, which gave it a unique sound, making it a piece I can truly say I gave my all to.

I hope the song ‘runs’ together with the manga, anime, and all of you guys!

Message from Conton Candy

We are thrilled to announce that our song "FUTSUU" has been chosen as the ending theme for the TV anime SAKAMOTO DAYS!

This marks our very first anime tie-in, and we couldn’t be more honored.

When we first received the offer, we were overjoyed and a bit surprised, but those feelings quickly turned into determination.  With that excitement in our hearts, we poured everything into creating this song.

You might be wondering, “A title called ‘FUTSUU’?”

Well, the lyrics reflect Aoi’s feelings toward Sakamoto.  They’re filled with warm and heartfelt words, so we hope you’ll take a moment to listen closely and feel the emotions in the song.

Watch SAKAMOTO DAYS as much as you can, listen to "FUTSUU" over and over, and let’s create an amazing anime experience together!

You can listen to FUTSUU on the following streaming services
