ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION Strike Europe in Album and Tour Combo

Japan’s black belts of alt-rock, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, have confirmed that two of their high hitting albums will be localised by London’s JPU Records ahead of the influential quartet’s headline tour of Europe this November.

ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, described by The Guardian as “one of Japan’s biggest rock bands… in terms of homegrown talent, you can't get much bigger”, are a multi-award winning rock band hailing from Yokohama. They’ve performed alongside Oasis, Weezer and Third Eye Blind and curate their own event, NANO-MUGEN FESTIVAL, which has featured Ash, Stereophonics and Manic Street Preachers amongst many more British and Japanese bands.

On 6 November 2015 BEST HIT AKG will be released, the band’s chart-topping ‘best of’ compilation features 17 career defining tracks. The CD includes breakout singles Piece of the Future (video) and A Flower Named You (video), as well as guitar anthems Rewrite (video) and Far and Beyond (video) from their smash hit album Sol-fa, which sold more than half-a-million copies in Japan. Far and Beyond has had over seven million views on YouTube outside of Japan. The album also packs several songs that brought the band to international attention, including ones used as themes to popular anime such as Bleach and Naruto.

Eighth and latest album Wonder Future, recorded at Foo Fighters’ Studio 606 earlier this year, will be released simultaneously with BEST HIT AKG in the UK and Europe. The release smashed its way to number four in Japan’s weekly album chart (Oricon), and saw the band adopt an entirely new recording style for the first time in their 19-year career, led by lead single Easter (video).

Both albums include extra booklets with lyrics translated into English and Romaji, while BEST HIT AKG additionally has track-by-track comments from each member in English. The album is available to pre-order now direct from JPU Records Online, as well as HMV, Amazon, FNAC and other stores.
