Sono's Tokyo Tribe, Still the Water, World of Kanako among highlights

The festival announcements are continuing in full swing and now the biggest of the bunch has finally revealed the entire programme for this year's installment. This year's BFI London Film Festival features the usual range of Asian cinema offerings but this year it's China that's coming to the forefront with a number of eagerly anticipated films! Here's a full list of what's on offer:
China/HK/Taiwan
• Black Coal, Thin Ice Berlin Golden Bear winner and self confessed weird crime thriller. Oct 9th 12.00 / Oct 11th 8.30 / Oct 12th 13.00
• Dearest - moving child abduction drama from Peter Chan. Oct 12th 14.30 / Oct 13th 14.45 / Oct 14th 18.15
• The Goddess - new restoration of a Chinese cinema silent classic starring Ruan Lingyu accompained by a brand new score by Zou Ye. Oct 14th 7.30
• No Man’s Land - "noodle western" from Ning Hao. Oct 14th 21.00 / Oct 16th 15.45
• Shadow Days - quasi ghost story that's really about the one child policy. Oct 15th 15.30 / Oct 18th 18.15
• The Smortlybacks short film. Part of a collection of children's animated shorts from around the world. Oct 19th 10.30
• The White Haired Witch of Lunar Kingdom - much anticipated wu xia epic based on Liang Yusheng's novel. Oct 18th 21.00 / Oct 19th 15.30
• Exit - story of a middle aged woman's bond with a man in the same hospital ward as her mother. Oct 12th 18.15 / Oct 13th 15.30
• Dragon Inn - restoration of a Chinese classic. Oct 11th 12.15 / oct 17th 15.15
Japan
• The Furthest End Awaits - the story of a friendship between two women. Oct 15th 20.25 / Oct 18th 15.15
• Giovanni’s Island - anime war drama from Production I.G. Oct 18.15 / Oct 11th 13.00
• Still the Water - hotly awaited art house effort from Naomi Kawase Oct 10th 18.15 / Oct 12th 15.30
• Tokyo Tribe - Sion Sono's latest movie and high octane yakuza themed hip hop musical makes a festival appearance ahead of its release from Eureka. Oct 9th 21.00 / Oct 11th 18.15
• The World of Kanako latest movie from Confessions director Tatsuya Nakashima is the story of bad cop Koji Yakusho on the trail of his wayward daughter Fumi Nakaido. Oct 13th 20.45 / Oct 15th 15.30 / Oct 19th 20.45
South Korea
• Hill of Freedom - Ryo Kase travels to Korea looking for the Korean girl of his dreams only he doesn't know where to look. Another Hong San-soo tale of sorrow and Soju. Oct 8th 18.30 / Oct 10th 13.00
• The Satellite Girl and Milk Cow - Korean children's animation about a satellite that crashes on Earth and becomes a little girl in the process. Also starring a broken hearted musician who's also a cow. Oct 18th 13.15 / Oct 19th 16.00
Tickets go on sale to the public at 10am on 18th of September (10th September for Champion Members, 11th September for cinema members) from the official BFI website. Tickets are priced at £9 week day matinees; £13.75 evenings/weekends BFI Southbank, BFI Southbank, Ciné Lumière, Curzon Chelsea, Curzon Mayfair, Hackney Picturehouse, ICA, Rich Mix, Ritzy, Vue Islington; £16 evenings/weekends Curzon Soho, Empire, Vue West End, Odeon West End, Odeon Covent Garden.
