Although we're well-served in terms of streaming for the latest TV anime, getting to see the latest anime movies can be a tough proposition - we're lucky enough to have the likes of Scotland Loves Anime to pick up some of the best and brightest films, but a lot still falls through the gaps.
Thankfully, one film that we won't be missing the chance to see next year is Garakowa -Restore the World-, as this original film from A-1 Pictures has been acquired for a streaming release by Crunchyroll. The film will thus be available in streaming form on Saturday, January 16th 2016 worldwide outside of Asia, in advance of a home video release in North America from PONYCAN USA.
The movie will be available from the aforementioned date at this Crunchyroll page. Here's a little more about the film from Crunchyroll themselves:
An original anime project from Pony Canyon and A-1 Pictures, Garakowa -Restore the World- is based on D.backup, a scenario and illustration project by the exciting and creative new duo “Physics Point.” D.backup was the grand prize winner at the 2013 Animeka Taisho (Anime Adaptation Award), which meant that it won the opportunity to be adapted into an animated film by Pony Canyon.
The film was directed by Masashi Ishihama, who previously worked on Attack on Titan and Psycho-Pass 2, while Fumihiko Shimo of Air and Clannad fame wrote the screenplay. Garakowa –Restore the World- also features character designs by popular illustrator Kantoku, who previously designed characters for the anime series HENNEKO -The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat-.
Synopsis: A space inhabited by multiple worlds, countless timelines and a diversity of people, where Dual and Dorothy battle the enemy – viruses encroaching on the world. A world infected by a virus must be deleted. This is Dual and Dorothy’s responsibility and job. One day, Dual and Dorothy discover a new virus attacking a girl. They save the girl and quietly wait for her to awaken. Who is she? Where did she come from? Where will she go? The girl finally awakens. She calls herself “Remo” and has only one thing to say: “I have to return to the flower garden...”
