Discotek Media license Dororo, confirm Blu-ray re-releases for North America

Yesterday saw North American distributor Discotek Media unveil a trio of new announcements via Facebook - well, two announces of re-releases and one all-new acquistion - all of which return to the company's eye for acquiring classic series.

For starters, four-part OVA Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo will be getting a Blu-ray re-release, marking the company's first subtitle-only Blu-ray offering. Alongside this, Samurai Pizza Cats will also get a Blu-ray re-issue - rather than any kind of HD remaster or upscale however, this will contain the entire 52-episode series in Standard Definition on a single Blu-ray disc... that's almost an entire day's content, and you won't have to leave the sofa once!

Finally, we come to the distributor's all-new acquisition, that being Tezuka Productions' black and white, 26-episode series from the late 1960, Dororo, adapted itself from Tezuka's classic manga. The series will be released in subtitle-only form, picking up the torch from the soon to be defunct AnimeSols, which attempted to crowdfund its release but will be shut down as of May 1st.
