Hollywood Reported has posted an exclusive naming Henry Cavill as the latest star to be signed for Amazon MGM's live action Voltron movie. The Superman and League of Ungentlemanly Warfare star has strong ties to pop culture, wit his love of Warhammer, The Witcher and gaming PC's well documented. He also comes across as a really nice guy.
The mecha anime adaptation is being directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Dodgeball, Red Notice) and will also star relative newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye who worked as Tom Holland's understudy at the West End, as well as small parts in Outlander and BBC 3 comedy Badults.
Shooting in Australia, the film will adapt the Japanese series Beast King Golion (aka Voltron) into live action. The series was made internationally popular when it was re-edited for the US children's market with much of the violence and gore muted or removed entirely.
Ross founded the UK Anime Network waaay back in 1995 and works in and around the anime world in his spare time. You can read his more personal articles on UKA's sister site, The Anime Independent.
