Kotaku UK Closes it's doors today

6 years of publishing comes to an end as Future allow license to lapse

Written by Ross Locksley on 09 Sep 2020

Games website Kotaku UK closed it's doors today, after an announcement on Monday that Future Publishing, the company that licenses the brand for our country, will not be renewing the brand when it lapses today.

In a tweet released this morning, Kotaku UK gave a final farewell:

We're here until midnight folks, then it's que sera sera: you can check out some of our finest joints for the last time on the homepage. Thanks to all of our readers and contributors over the years, and goodbye.

The core Kotaku US website thanked the UK operation for its efforts to push the Kotaku brand, and noted that Kotaku Australia would continue.

The brand, which was started as part of the Gawker-owned website group, was sold to G/O Media last year.
