Written by Ross Locksley on 04 Feb 2026

Anime Ltd have announced the release of Lupin IIIrd: The Movie - The Immortal Bloodline in UK cinemas on 21st February. Lupin, having spanned over 50 years as a Japanese cultural icon, continues to commit capers that have delighted generations. Now it's time for another foray into the unknown, where they will confront their deadliest foes and their own adventurous legacy.

Synopsis:

After fending off a series of skilled assassins, gentleman thief Lupin III and his band of allies follow a strange invitation to an uncharted island. When their plane is shot down, the gang is stranded and soon hunted by the island's inhabitants, past enemies, and a monstrous immortal being known as Muom, who threatens to destroy Lupin's legacy. As a deadly toxic fog settles over them, Lupin must confront his greatest enemy in his most daring escapade yet.

From the Press Release:

Celebrated director Takeshi Koike (Redline, The Animatrix) combines his trademark kinetic visual flair with the pulp tones of characters inspired by James Bond and MAD magazine, as well as a dash of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus to create LUPIN THE IIIRD: The Movie - The Immortal Bloodline: an adrenaline infused Sci-Fi adventure that connects celebrated capers past and present, forcing to Lupin and the gang to confront their deadliest foes, and their legacy. Takeshi Koike will also feature in a pre-recorded introduction to the film that will be shown exclusively in cinemas.

First appearing over 50 years ago in Monkey Punch’s original manga, the master thief Lupin III, his criminal cohorts, and the determined Inspector Zenigata have starred in adventures across a range of tones and styles that nurtured talent who would become Japan’s most celebrated filmmakers, from the legendary Studio Ghibli co-founders Hayao Miyazaki and the late Isao Takahata, to B-movie icon Seijun Suzuki (Branded to Kill, Lupin III: The Legend of the Gold of Babylon), and modern breakthroughs like Takashi Yamazaki (Godzilla Minus One, Lupin III: The First). With anime films fast emerging as a global box office force that can rival even Hollywood blockbusters, there’s no better time to explore the stories that defined the medium.
