Universal Pictures confirm Seraph, Arslan Part 2 dates; unveil Starmyu release plans

A glimpse at the distributor's first 2017 title

Written by A. H. on 01 Sep 2016

We've just received a bumper bundle of update news from the good folk at Universal Pictures, giving us confirmation on what to expect from the second halves of both Seraph of the End and The Heroic Legend of Arslan, plus exclusively revealing their first title for 2017!

Let's start with that new title first, as the distributor has confirmed that the first season of STARMYU will be getting a UK release on home video - this series will be getting the Universal Pictures' Collector's Edition treatment, albeit at a lower price and with less bonus content than previous releases. The release is currently slated for January 2017, with further details to be confirmed.

Returning our focus to 2016 however, we now have a confirmed date for Seraph of the End Season 1 Part 2, that being Monday, 5th December. Both the DVD and Blu-ray Collector's Edition SKUs will contain art cards, character cards, a poster, a 30-page book, and aset of lenticular chibi character stickers.

This will be followed later in the month with The Heroic Legend of Arslan Season 1 Part 2 on Monday, 26th December - both DVD and Blu-ray Collector's Editions will ship with a hefty 100-page "flipper" art book featuring a visual guide and character sketch book, character cards, 12 art cards and adouble-sided poster.

In addition to all this, both of these December releases will also have a special fifth character card produced, featuring Ferid Bathory for Seraph of the End and Hilmes for The Heroic Legend of Arslan - these additional cards won't ship directly with the products themselves but will instead be strictly limited promotional items offered at conventions and/or as pre-order bonuses. More details will follow as to how to get hold of these exclusive items.

So, there you have it - confirmation of what to expect from Universal Pictures in Q4, and a glimpse at their first 2017 title (with more still to come on that front). As always, both ourselves and Universal Pictures would love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to leave them in the comments!
